Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin announced today that the federal income tax filing date has been extended from April 15 to July 15 for people who owe $1 million or less and corporations that owe $10 million or less. This allows taxpayers and businesses additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.
Although most states will likely follow this lead, this delay is for federal income tax returns, not state income tax returns. We will keep you updated on the status of Mississippi and other states.
Although the deadline has been delayed, you can still file your returns at any time, and you may want to consider doing that if you are expecting a refund.
